The CITY’SCAPE Symposium & Award 2026 is set to begin, taking place on 17 and 18 September at Triennale di Milano. Two days of international discussion dedicated to landscape design, featuring the Politecnico di Milano alongside over 40 speakers with experience from various countries. The event will conclude with the CITY’SCAPE AWARD ceremony, which this year has hit the record of 416 entries from 32 countries.
At the heart of the programme lies an issue that is now crucial for the future of cities and regions: the landscape as an ecological, social and economic infrastructure, capable of contributing to climate resilience, the protection of biodiversity, urban regeneration, health and the quality of public space.
17 September will be dedicated to the Renaissance of the Italian Historic Garden, highlighting the outcomes of the €300 million investment from the PNRR Cultura programme earmarked for the restoration and enhancement of historic parks and gardens. The programme will bring together institutions, academics and designers at the Triennale to showcase a series of projects involving over one hundred sites that have now been completed or are nearing completion, alongside the survey and development of new tools for understanding and protecting the nation’s historic green heritage.
On 18 September, the focus will shift to the international contemporary scene. Urban forestry, the regeneration of brownfield sites, soft mobility, green and blue infrastructure, therapeutic landscapes, sport and play, tourism and technological innovation will be among the themes explored through projects and case studies from Europe, the Americas and Asia. A mosaic of experiences that highlights the growing centrality of landscape architecture in processes of urban and territorial transformation.
The Symposium will conclude at 5.00 pm on 18 September with the Awards Ceremony for the CITY’SCAPE AWARD 2026, now in its eleventh edition. The 416 projects entered, spread across the Award’s 17 categories, form an international panorama of research, projects and strategies for the contemporary landscape. On the same day, from 9.00 am to 7.30 pm, the Triennale’s Teatro Agorà will host the CITY’SCAPE Exhibition, a video exhibition dedicated to all the projects in the competition.
The event is promoted by PAYSAGE – Promotion and Development for Landscape Architecture and the international magazine TOPSCAPE, and co-organised with the National Council of Architects, Planners, Landscape Architects and Conservationists – CNAPPC
