The Master’s programme trains professionals capable of designing and managing innovative healthcare spaces. It integrates architecture, technology, environmental physics and facility management to respond to changes in the social and healthcare system.
Through the analysis of regulations, literature and international best practice, it examines the link between healthcare construction and public health, the evolution of hospital typologies and new design criteria, in order to develop cutting-edge solutions focused on care, wellbeing and efficiency.
The multidisciplinary and multi-professional nature of the Master’s programme offers a training programme that is unique in Italy, successfully training professionals such as Hospital Planners.

Who is it for?
The Master’s programme is aimed at architects and engineers who aspire to a managerial career within the National Health Service (SSN) or who intend to pursue a career as designers of social and healthcare facilities; at doctors, healthcare directors (both prospective and currently in post), and other professionals. The Master’s programme is open only to candidates holding a traditional Bachelor’s degree (V.O.) or a Master’s degree (N.O.) or other qualifications deemed equivalent.
Admission to the Master’s programme is subject to a selection process based on the assessment of the CV and an individual interview. It is possible to enrol simultaneously on a Master’s programme and a PhD programme and/or a medical specialisation programme.
The total cost of the Master’s programme is €5,500.00 (VAT-exempt pursuant to Article 10 of Presidential Decree No. 633 of 26 October 1972, as amended), payable in three instalments. A partial reduction in the tuition fee is available for deserving candidates who apply for it during the admission interviews.
Public and/or private bodies may fund scholarships to be awarded to prospective candidates.
In-depth activities
The programme is enriched by activities including technical visits to hospitals and social care facilities and/or organisations relevant to the Master’s programme, practical exercises and workshops, and a work placement to be carried out, for example, at healthcare facilities and/or companies.
Programme
Format
Part-time, Fridays and Saturdays (9.00 am – 1.00 pm and 2.00 pm – 6.00 pm); each month, three online modules and one face-to-face module comprising practical lessons, workshops and/or site visits.
Duration
6 months of teaching (from November 2025 to July 2026), 300 hours of work placement (by April 2027), and final examination (May 2027).
Attendance
Attendance at the activities included in the Master’s programme is compulsory for at least 75 per cent of the course activities. The training period cannot be suspended for any reason.

The course is divided into four teaching modules:
1. Design
- Structural and functional layout of healthcare facilities.
- Evolution of design.
- Architectural and services engineering aspects.
2. Organisation
- Analysis of regulations and context.
- Organisation of the healthcare facility.
- Types of healthcare provision.
3. Management
- Operation of healthcare facilities.
- Network of social care services.
- Impact of design solutions on the organisation and operation of services.
- Management during construction and maintenance.
4. Health and Safety
Hospital hygiene and technical standards, with particular reference to solutions for reducing risks to patients and staff.
