Capsoni Antonio

Associate Professor

Graduated in Civil Engineering, he earned his PhD in Structural Engineering from Politecnico di Milano (PoliMi) in 1995. In the same year, he joined the Department of Structural Engineering at PoliMi as a faculty member.He has been a part-time Associate Professor since 2002.Over the course of his academic career, he has taught “Theory of Structures,” “Structural Reliability,” and “Reinforced Concrete Design.” He is currently in charge of the course “Stability of Structures” and related laboratories within the Architectural programs.He is the author of numerous scientific and technical publications in international journals.His research interests range from theoretical topics—such as the mathematical theory of plates, plasticity theory, limit analysis, and variational and mixed finite element formulations—to more applied fields, including footbridge vibrations, structural stability, bridge engineering, structural optimization, structural monitoring and assessment, and dynamic response control.His current research focuses on the seismic protection of slender and tall buildings through passive damping and base isolation strategies, the analysis of parametric instabilities in the nonlinear aeroelastic response of suspended bridges, and refined beam theories for the one-dimensional modeling of tall structures.
