Researcher
Daniele Treccani is a researcher in Geomatics at the Department of Architecture, Construction Engineering, and Built Environment at the Politecnico di Milano. His research focuses on the surveying and three-dimensional modeling of cultural heritage, buildings, and historic urban contexts, using a combination of photogrammetry, laser scanning, mobile mapping systems, and geospatial data analysis. He is affiliated with the UNESCO Research Lab of the Mantua Campus of the Politecnico di Milano, where he focuses on urban accessibility, GIS, HBIM, and artificial intelligence applications to survey data. He has participated in research and survey projects on sites of international importance and is involved in the teaching activities of the AUIC school at the Politecnico di Milano.
Career
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Brescia.
Master's Degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Brescia.
PhD in Architecture, Construction Engineering, and the Built Environment from the Polytechnic University of Milan.
Assistant Professor in Geomatics at the Department of Architecture, Construction Engineering, and the Built Environment, Polytechnic University of Milan.
Research
Research activities focus on the geometric survey and three-dimensional modeling of cultural heritage, buildings, and historic urban contexts. Scientific interest focuses on the integration of advanced data acquisition techniques (terrestrial and UAV photogrammetry, static and mobile laser scanning, and other SLAM systems) with geospatial data analysis and management methodologies. Research includes GIS and BIM/HBIM applications, the development of procedures for the automatic analysis of point clouds, and the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques. Particular attention is paid to the issues of urban accessibility and the inclusive use of historic centers.
