Associate Professor

After earning his master's degree in architecture in 1994, he began collaborating on teaching and scientific research focused on energy efficiency in the built environment; from 1998, he continued his work as a Research Fellow.Since he obtained his first academic position as Assistant Professor in 2001, he has formalised and coordinated, as scientific responsible, 1 M€ research agreements and contracts, participating in over thirty national and international research projects, three of which within the Programmes of the International Energy Agency. He has joined the PhD Boards in “Technology and Design of Environmental Quality at the building and urban scale”, “Technology and Design for the Built Environment”, and “Design and Technology for the Enhancement of Cultural Heritage”. He supervised 7 PhD research theses and is currently coordinating 2 more.He is the author of 150 publications, including journal articles, conference papers, book chapters, monographs and scientific treatises, two-thirds of which are international.

Urban-scale energy planning. Retrofit strategies for building stocks. Energy and environmental efficiency improvements for national cultural heritage buildings. Predictive models for the optimized management of building heating and ventilation systems. Diagnosis and improvement of environmental conditions in confined spaces. Energy and environmental retrofitting of school buildings.

Community Service

Member of the Scientific Council of CIRIAF – Interuniversity Research Center on Pollution and the Environment "Mauro Felli". Member of the CSEA - Fund for Energy and Environmental Services - expert list for the evaluation of national System Research (RdS) projects.
