HORUS

olistic On-demand Remote Unmanned Sensin

Maria Pina Limongelli (Principal Investigator)

At a time of increased threats, climate change, and reduced budgets, HORUS faces one of the major concerns for infrastructure operators and government authorities: increasing investments in inspection and safety assessment of aging civil infrastructure. HORUS drives the evolution of structural health monitoring systems from networks of sensors permanently installed on a few strategic infrastructures, to a set of modular sensing devices brought on-demand to targeted structures by swarms of drones. Artificial Intelligence algorithms, digital twins of the managed structures and intelligent decision support systems enable human decision-makers to control and manage infrastructure assets optimally, safely, and promptly. The transmission of the massive amount of data is enabled by the future 6G communication technology, made available on-site by femtocells directly brought by flying base stations or by satellite networks, even in remote areas or areas subjected to natural calamities.
