Campioli Andrea

Full Professor

Architect, PhD, Full Professor of Technological and Environmental Design of Architecture at the Politecnico di Milano, Dean of the School of Architecture Urban Planning Construction Engineering. His research and teaching activities focus on the effects of technological innovation on design culture in architecture, with particular reference to processes oriented towards environmental sustainability throughout the life cycle. He participates, also with roles of scientific responsibility, in national and international research on technical innovation and policies aimed at eco-efficiency in the construction sector, as well as on the design and life cycle assessment of building systems and components produced with advanced industrial systems. On these topics, he is the author of monographs and articles published in national and international journals. He is editor of the magazines "Costruire in laterizio" and "Costruzioni metalliche", and a member of the international scientific committee of the magazine Arketipo.

Career

Master degree in Architecture, PhD.

Research

The research activity focuses on technical and technological innovation in the construction sector, with particular attention to the environmental sustainability of buildings and building components throughout their entire life cycle and on the impact of such innovation on design practice. In particular, the research addresses the following topics:

  • Strategies for environmental innovation (low material intensity, low energy intensity, recyclability, reversibility, etc.) in construction techniques; architectural processes and solutions oriented toward environmental sustainability; Life Cycle Analysis applied to the construction sector; innovation processes driven by energy efficiency goals in the design of buildings, technical systems, and products.
  • Critical analysis of tools for evaluating and certifying environmental performance at the scale of buildings, materials, building products, and multi-criteria environmental assessment systems; development of proposals for updating Life Cycle Assessment methodologies through integration with tools and methods aimed at assessing economic and social sustainability (Life Cycle Costing, Social Life Cycle Assessment).
