Bolognesi Cecilia Maria

Associate Professor

Cecilia Bolognesi is an architect and Associate Professor at the Department of Architecture, Built Environment and Construction Engineering (ABC) of Politecnico di Milano. She specializes in digital modelling of the built and designed environment at both architectural and urban scales, with a focus on immersive environments, BIM-, HBIM- and Green BIM-informed models, 3D surveying, digital twins, and the relationships between digital technologies and IoT.Her research addresses 3D digitization not only in the field of conservation, but as an integral part of construction and manufacturing processes. She served as Scientific Director of LaborA, a large university-wide facility and physical and virtual modelling laboratory, from 2022 to 2024; she is responsible for virtual modelling within the Digital Construction Hub and Scientific Coordinator of the Digi Skills courses at the School of Architecture, Urban Planning and Construction Engineering. She is the institutional coordinator for Politecnico di Milano of the Erasmus KA171 agreement with the Universidad Tecnológica del Perú (UTP) and the institutional coordinator for the agreement with Syddansk Universitet, Odense, Denmark. She chairs professional qualification committees for architects and she is a member of editorial boards such as Dinne and Semantic and SMART BIM 24, and a member of national and international scientific committees and scholarly associations. She served as Editor-in-Chief of the scientific journal DEDALO – ANCE Milan from 2009 to 2016.

Career

She graduated with honours in Architectural Design from Politecnico di Milano and obtained a PhD in architectural and urban design at IUAV University of Venice. She has held the position of Associate Professor at Politecnico di Milano since 2021.
