Digital@construct lab collects and processes data to support the construction sector through the use of digital platforms enabling cross-disciplinary and interoperable collaboration among stakeholders in the building process. These activities span from early decision-making and meta-design phases to detailed design, through production and construction stages, as well as operational management, use and maintenance, up to decommissioning or potential reuse. It capitalizes on the experience gained from completed prototypes such as INNOVance, the Italian construction platform awarded under the Industria 2015 program, a structured data repository (raw, aggregated, processed data, etc.) supporting all phases of the building process. Within this framework, R&D projects are implemented to bring tools into operational use, including BIMReL (the platform for the digitization of construction products) and 3DBIM (the BIM platform for emergency departments), both SmartLiving Lombardia projects, as well as European research projects such as BIM4EEB (BIM-based Fast Toolkit for Efficient Renovation in Buildings), DigiPLACE, and VIC (Virtual Innovation Consortium), in addition to PRIN 2022 research projects such as digITER (Digital Information Technologies for Life-Cycle Management from E-permit Requirements). It develops methodologies for sharing immersive virtual environments dedicated to the design and management of the building process and supports research and implementation of XR practices across the entire construction value chain through the VIC – Immersive Tech and AI Lab Unit.

Digitalisation of the building products and components and their manufacturing processes.

Support for procuring entities in drafting documentation for tenders using BIM methodology

Technical and scientific support in developing an economically advantageous offer with BIM methodology and assistance in the publication and evaluation phases of the tender. Support in drafting tender documents, technical specifications and BIM execution plans.
Implementation of the collaborative contractual forms to optimise the relationships between the parties.

BIM property guidelines for procuring entities and property managers

Support for the Common Data Environment (CDE) of contracts in defining the rules for the construction of Collaborative Digital Platforms for procuring entities and property managers.
Drafting of guidelines for modelling with BIM methodology for the design of new buildings using BIM methodology and the management of maintenance contracts and facility management services.
