Energy Lab
Works
The following is a selection of major projects developed in recent years, where advanced research converges with practical application, generating outcomes that support civil society, public institutions, and the business sector.
Services
Below are the services offered by the Energy Lab Unit to students, teachers, researchers and businesses
Microclimactc monitoring of historic buildings and cultural assets
Monitoring and mapping of ambient temperature and relative humidity data, in enclosed spaces or otherwise, in order to identify any areas characterised by hygrometric anomalies and to determine the best microclimatic conditions for the preservation of historic buildings and cultural assets.
Green Building Rating Systems
Research, consultancy and technical support relating to multi-criteria building evaluation/certification systems. Definition/adaptation of specific criteria within the green building rating systems for local settings. Development of dedicated systems on the basis of specific building needs and/or types.
Modelling of building envelope systems
Modelling and optimisation of the energy performance of building envelope systems and support in developing innovative, low-impact envelope components.
Modelling of the energy and lighting performance of glazing and sun protection systems.
Modelling of the energy, hygrothermal and albedo performance of green roofing.
Monitoring of photovoltaic and hybrid components
Experimental outdoor monitoring of photovoltaic and hybrid components (photovoltaic-thermal).
Modelling of building-plant systems
Dynamic modelling and simulation of buildings and plant systems.
